Holiday attractions and things to do

There is plenty to do in and around Stoke Gabriel. We are close to the holiday resorts of Torbay, Salcombe and Dartmouth, while the hills and valleys of Dartmoor and the cities of Plymouth and Exeter are close by. Here is a smaller taster of what you could get up too!


The River Dart is at the bottom of the village. From here you can launch a boat or canoe easily and explore the river. You can also hire canoes and go crabbing with a great cafe to enjoy an ice cream or a drink. You can go surfing at bigbury with Discovery Surf. You can also surf in Torbay in an easterly too. You can sail with South Sands Sailing in Salcombe or take sailing or power boat courses at Torbay Sea School in Torbay

. You can have a great time with Canoe Adventures on the river Dart who do wonderful half day trips.


You can enjoy the perfect English river picnic on board The Picnic Boat or enjoy the river cruise from Totnes to Dartmouth with River Link.


South Devon offers some great walking opportunities. The South West Coastal Path can be found just a few miles from our holiday home and offers some fantastic coastal scenery. South Devon is an Area of Outstanding Natural Bueaty and many walks can be downloaded from the South Devon AONB website.


In nearby Newton Abbot there is Hele Park Golf Centre, a 9 hole golf course and driving range, ideal for a quick round, practice or for families who want to try golf for the first time.


Daily fishing trips from Paignton or Brixham. Town Parks Coarse Fishing is close by.


There is a multi screen cinema in Paignton and Torquay and 2 alternative cinemas in Totnes and Dartington. We have a small theatre in Paignton and the large Princess Theatre in Torquay.

There is also bowling in Torquay.
